I am lost in the whirlwind sea,
the choppy waves are foaming -
but no one can see,
no one can see the whiteness
of my salt encrusted eyes,
these filthy pearls
that stare at life even now.
I am not blinded.
Looking towards the heavens -
I see the dark waste of
a million flies -
Lucifer, do you speak to me now?
I see no light in this darkness.
In this valley I will wallow,
in the ocean I will sag.
Why have you deserted me?
This is no place for children,
no place for birds to spread their
sodden wings;
I cannot fly, I cannot sing,
this is not my dream.
I can hear the shore,
can taste the granules
of crystal sand,
with the water sloughing off
the dirt and scent of humanity.
An eagle calls.
I lift my head.
Blurry light shines through
this borrowed day -
I lift my hand and
there
is
hope.
